Asia Minor Cuisine “Tastes of Memories”

In collaboration with the Municipality of Thessaloniki, we had the honor to co-organize the event «Tastes of Memory», in the context of a series of events related to the celebration of 100 Years of Asia Minor.

The Thessaloniki City Hall auditorium was filled with thousands of people who attended to watch the most popular television cook Argiro Barbarigou as well as Maria Ekmekcioglou who specializes in “Politiki” cuisine. They’re both thrilled the audience by cooking Brorani from Asia Minor, Chilpir eggs and Hiunkiar Beyendi, , souzoukakia smirneika with ich pilaf and other tradition recipes of Antiochian Kiunefe.

A total of 35 associations from regions such as eastern Thrace, Propontis, Pontus, Ionia, Cappadocia and Constantinople took part in the event, each showcasing traditional dishes that bring back memories to our beloved homelands through their unique flavors and aromas. Visitors had the opportunity to try over 100 different traditional dishes and watch to dance over 700 traditional dancers.

The event was a resounding success, and all proceeds from the tasting were donated to the Elliniko Paidiko Village in Filyro.
