We organize this virtual concert, streamed on YouTube by Thessaloniki Concert Hall Organization during the pandemic, stood out from other online performances due to its focus on Byzantine music. Featuring renowned choral and vocal ensembles, the concert presented a harmonious blend of traditional Byzantine melodies that left a lasting impression on the audience. The concert was a testament to the enduring power of music to uplift and connect us, even in times of social distancing. All the tropes from the Great and Holy Friday liturgy sung on Holy Thursday evening, the holiest and most venerable day of Holy Week, commemorated our Lord’s horrible and saving passions. The Hymns by the members of the choir were of a poetic style, spiritual sensitivity, mystagogic piety, mournful experience, rapture, which remain forever immortal monuments of Byzantine music.
