The stunning artistic Hymnology took place at Emilios Riadis Hall of Thessaloniki Concert Hall as part of the broader preparations for the “Aortes of Holy Week -Great Feast” of the Resurrection of Christ, organized by the Holy Metropolis of Thessaloniki with the assistance of the Regional Union of Municipalities of Central Macedonia and the Thessaloniki Concert Hall Organization.
Eight Byzantine choirs similar to Holy Churches of the Holy Metropolis of Thessaloniki, presented a unique musical narrative journey of the days of Holy Week with selected church hymns.
The choir that participated were the Byzantine choir of Holy Church of Saint Demetrius, Patron Saint of Thessalonica,the Byzantine Choir “EVDROMOUDES” and the Women’s Byzantine choir “EF NEANIDES” of the Artistic Workshop Agiou Therapontos Church Thessalonikis, the Byzantine choir of Holy Church of Metamorphosis Sotiros, the “Ergastiri Ekklisiastikis Mousikis Thessalonikis”, the Byzantine choir “EFONON” of the Cathedral church Agias Sophias, the Byzantine choir “IDIMELON”, the “Ergastiri of Parasimantikis”, the Byzantine choir of Saint Gregory of Palamas Holy Metropolitan Church.
Worthy of special mention is the iconic presence of the actor Grigoris Valtinos, who in the role of the narrator captivated the audience with the performance of the texts. The artistic supervision was provided by Protopsaltis Ioannis Tsamis.
